A highlight of the Farewell Banquet
was our acknowledgements and awards to all
Perry shipmates for
services rendered beyond the 'call of duty'. As we concluded
our
program, I was asked by Bob Hales to remain on deck for a moment.
I was in
total shock and without words when Bob then
presented me the beautiful replica model
of the pre-fram USS
Perry DD-844. What a gift!!! I will forever cherish this
beautiful
memento and promise to share it with my shipmates
for years to come.
