Meeting Howard Johnson
Ocean Front Hotel
3705 Atlantic Ave Virginia Beach, VA
The meeting was called to order by Steve Silk, President Following
a discussion of possible cities for our next reunion, it was decided
that the following sites be investigated: a. Pensacola, FL, -
Mobil, AL, by Berne Miller
b. Charleston, S.C.,
by Robert (Andy) Anderson
c. Mayport, FL, by Felix
(Phil) Villa-Lobos
The time frame for the next reunion is about 18 months. Probable that we will operate on that schedule to have alternate spring and fall reunions. Steve Silk proposed Martin Deeney for Secretary; motion made by Ken Chapman; approved by members present. Ken also made motions to continue Steve Silk as President and Joe Malmendier as Treasurer, both were approved by the Members present..
Steve Silk discussed the possibility of improving the USS Perry web site by obtaining our own domain. Joe Malmendier moved that we do so and the membership approved the funding of that effort. Ken Chapman proposed that the Reunion Association give Jill Sanders, of Angelo's Restaurant, an $100 tip in appreciation of the outstanding job she did on our banquet. The motion was approved by the membership. Joe Malmendier made a preliminary Treasurer's Report indicated that after on site expenses were paid, that slightly more than $2,000 remained. Organizers expenses were yet to be deducted. (A complete report will be published in the next newsletter.) A motion was made and seconded that the meeting be adjourned. The motion passed.
